Remote meeting
Who knew google+ was so cool! I had no idea you could skype over google plus, it rocked my universe. And you can add shapes and characters to your face to distract the other person while you're talking! So professional. Definitely going to use that more often. It was almost as cool as seeing my comrades in person. We talked about our project and used a google doc to make ammendments, technology is so sweet!

Case analysis
This week we are doing a case analysis for Disney company. I was surprised how many people hated Disney! There were many complaints about security, customer interaction, and handicap accessibility. Many disney employees were rude to customers and showed no empathy whatsoever to the children. The children are what its all about! If you dont please the children, as Disney you would go out of business. The key to good business for Disney lies in keeping it a magical place for the children. Security also needs some beefing up to prevent theft and safer environments for customers.

My briefing article needs some work
Well my briefing article was slapped in the face this week! Then again I did it like 2 hours before class started haha. But the critique was very helpful. I need to make my article much more visually appealing. I also learned that my topic was too broad and needs to be narrowed down. Originally it was on the economic effects of Obamacare but the reality is you can write novels on the subject! Leticia suggested narrowing it down to the effects of Obamacare on a specific group of people, such as small-business owners or seniors. Great idea! My work is cut out for me this week. I also really enjoyed the presentation from the guy who got a job with toyota, that really comforted me because my grades arent phenomenal but I feel like i have good communication skills so I am glad he emphasized that.

Research!
This week we learned about research and how to properly conduct research in an effective time manner. I learned a ton about all the different resources that we have at BYU! It's important to know what database to use to maximize your efforts. There are different databases for corporate businesses as well as private. You can really find anything you want on the internet! I am excited to complete this project and try and be as concise as possible.

Skype interview
My skype interview was super helpful. I got some great feedback on making sure my responses don't appear scripted. It is important to take a second and contemplate an answer so that it seems genuine and unrehearsed. Also lighting is a big deal, half of my face was in darkness (Harvey Dent) and it was difficult for the employer to see me. Make sure your backgrounds are appropriate as well. Don't forget to put on pants!
Mock interviews
I learned a lot about interviewing from the mock exercise this last week. I learned the importance of preparedness with the. PAR stories especially. Those are so valuable. Confidence is huge as well, when you do not appear confident in yourself the employer questions your ability to fulfill the position. Eye contact is critical, if you have multiple people interviewing you then be sure to give them all due credence. Don't just stare at the person who asked you the question the whole time. I am excited to present next week!

This week Lexi Hansen was in a very serious accident as she was hit by a car while longboarrding on her way to campus. SHe is in critical condition in ICU. Lexi is a dear classmate of ours. Please pray for her! I know that as we pray together on behalf of our classmate that miracles can happen and the Lord is mindful of us. It will be not be the same having to present on tuesday without her but she will be on our minds and in our hearts.

Did you use proper grammar in your Valentine love notes?
Another week gone, my how the time flies. What did we learn in Mcom this week? The destruction of the word "umm" from the English vocabulary is indeed necessary and should be attended to with great care. What a difficult task, the word "umm" is like a favorite sin, you go back to it when you're bored or are no longer busy. Not anymore folks, we're going to run this filler word through the borders of Mexico. Along with other phrases such as: like, so, you know, guys, right, anyways, and on and on and on. Let us converse like the Victorian women without the corsets. Do you know how hard of a time they would have with twitter?

Ok so this class might be growing on me, but just a little!
I confess folks, I do love the power of words and presentation. I was getting so psyched thinking about presenting next week, and then learned we'll be presenting on a subject out of the book and my enthusiasm dwindled. But I suppose that is the mark of a true presenter, one who can take boring information and teach it in a memorable and exciting way. That is my goal for next class, teach you something that I myself have yet to learn, and have a fun and positive experience. If I fail, please alert me on here with advice on how to improve. If I succeed, still critique me! K love you bye.

Networking, Capitalization, and misspelled words.
I love how we all took the time to point out our misspelled words in our presentations. It is good to know that we're human but it also showed the importance of being confident and pressing forward. We need to believe in ourselves, not dwell on our mistakes, and look up toward the future. '
Anybody else want to pull their hair out with capitalization, tenses, and numbers? How about we just scrap the whole concept of writing altogether? Just kidding, where would we be without pen to paper, letters to words? Life would be dull and cumbersome, as tempting as the enticement of never having to worry about grammar again sounds. I am beginning to see the value in writing with power, who would've thought proper capitalization would give you power? Think again!
Alas, networking. Time to get out of the shell and make use of that internal social butterfly! Put facebook, linked in, and google plus to good work! Did somebody say Pinterest? Ok so maybe I'm not there yet but one step at a time.

A wake up to college reality.
Holy cow! I woke up Wednesday morning and college had hit me in the face. 3 quizzes, with 3 impending assignments in Mcom 320, I was ill prepared. I have learned quickly the need to lift my performance and apply myself. Back in junior college I was absent half the time yet somehow made the Dean's list with honors. Not so here at BYU. The biggest lesson gained on Tuesday night in Mrs. Middleton's class was the reality that if you want to succeed in this world, you must put in the time. It was an important moment! Up until that time I had thought I could skate on by through life, doing minimal work and getting maximum results. I am grateful for the wake up call!
